Prices of apartments in Klaipėda increased by 0.4%

The Ober-Haus Lithuanian apartment price index (OHBI) shows that in May 2013 apartment prices in the five major Lithuanian cities (Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys) remained unchained. The rate of annual decline has slowed to 1.0% from 1.7% recorded in the start of this year.

Although the overall value of the apartment price index in the main Lithuanian cities remained unchanged, different changes in prices in individual cities were recorded in May. A growth of 0.4% in apartment prices was recorded in Klaipėda after a 8-month break; the average price per square metre reached EUR 962 (+4 EUR/sqm). This change was mostly influenced by an increase in 1-2 room apartment prices in the residential districts of Klaipėda. Vilnius apartment prices edged up for the fourth month in a row, rising 0.1% to 1,196 EUR/sqm (+1 EUR/sqm) in May 2013.

In May a decrease of 0.8% of apartment prices was recorded in Kaunas, the average price per square metre dropped to EUR 933 (-7 EUR/sqm). The average apartment price in Šiauliai and Panevėžys in May remained unchanged and were 546 EUR/sqm and 515 EUR/sqm.
